Saint Regis Hotel
Washington, D.C.
December 2006 & January 2007

Located 2 blocks from the White House in Washington D.C. is the famous Saint Regis Hotel. The Saint Regis Hotel is considered one of the best hotels in the world and caters to many of the world’s most famous people.

During a resent renovation to the hotel, new traditional exterior waterproofing was planed for several of the below grade walls. While traditional exterior waterproofing is highly effective when applied correctly it requires excavation of the soils to expose the walls. With nearly three floors of below grade walls to waterproof the amount of excavation was going to be an expensive part of the overall multi million-dollar renovation.

T. Luckey Sons Inc. was contacted to review the project and offer possible alternative waterproofing systems that would require no excavating. T. Luckey Sons Inc. reviewed the project and proposed injecting waterproof polyurethane grout through the foundation walls to form the waterproof barrier.

Through a series of injection holes drilled through the below grade walls an expanding polyurethane grout was injected to form the required waterproof barrier without any excavation required.

Polyurethane Grout Used: Green Mountain International
