A new building in downtown Washington D.C. was being constructed next to an existing building. As the excavation began for the new building it was discovered that the existing building was beginning to settle. After investigating the settlement problem it was determined that soils were sifting out between the concrete piles supporting the existing building.

T. Luckey Sons Inc. Support Restoration Technologies was contacted to review the situation and offer a solution to the problem. After reviewing the problem, T. Luckey Sons Inc. deigned a repair that would assist in the structural support and prevent additional settlement of the building.
Injection rods were driven in-between each concrete support pier to depths of 40+ feet and injected with an expanding chemical grout. The chemical grout solidified the soils between the concrete piers preventing additional soils loss and structure settlement.
